Do I have remote start & amp hookups?

Okay guys, Here's a qustion for you:

I bought my truck a month ago and it had an aftermarket stereo installed, because there are wires that I don't know what they are for. It had a Delco casette/radio head unit made from 1996 in it, and since my truck is a 2000 I guess they put soemething cheap in it to sell it. (I have since installed a Pioneer head unit). Are the wires for an amplifier?

I also have a sticker on the engine shroud that says I have a DEI remote starter installed, and there is a switch and a light and a button installed under the dash.

There is a purple wire and it goes to the #1 ignition coil. I have tried various combinations of the remote start on my key fob and under the dash with no results. I'm pretty clueless on how remote starters work.

Anybody got any 2 cents worth of guesses/advice?

You have to post your pics on a photo hosting site then provide the URL in your posts on this site and they will then show up.

Most IP's provide free photo hosting services or you can use sites like www.photobucket.com

Some of those are free as well.

The purple wire should be a tach wire. That is needed for a remote start to work. If it is a fairly new DEI remote start, you should be able to push the lock and unlock buttons at the same time to make the remote start work. try switching the toggle switch and repeat if it doesn't work the first time. As far as the extra wires for the radio... what color are they? if i knew that i could help you.

The only wire the stereo shoudl have for the amp is the remote turn on wire (blue). Then you will have your RCA outputs for the signal.

IF the stereo doesn't have that you will have to use a line output converter. I think even the cheapest Pioneer units now have at least 1 set of RCA outputs.
