Headrest Removal

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am thinking about getting a new set of front headrests with monitors on my 2001 Suburban 1500. I was checking to see if they would fit when I tried to remove the headrest from the front seat. I couldn't get it off. It will pull up about three inches or so, but then it feels like there is some sort of catch inside the seat stopping it from coming all the way up. Both driver's and passenger's headrests are the same way, as well as the mini-headrests in the second row.

Anyone know how to pull the headrests completely out? Is there some magic button I'm missing, or do I need to get inside the seat (I sure hope not)? I have leather interior if it matters.

Thanks,

Look at the plastic piece where the head rest slides out.

There should be a small hole located on the side of the plastic piece

where you can insert a paper clip or fine nail to release the headrest.

I went through the same thing installing seat covers

on my 02 GMC.
