Driving in neutral

Coming home today I went to put the autotrac into auto 4wd to get up my driveway, it's stony and steep and the empty 3/4 ton is about helpless, and noticed the neutral indicator LED was lit. I pushed the 2wd indicator and it only flashed but I was able to go up the driveway no problem, later puting it into park and then ito gear allowed it to switch to 2wd. I have no idea how long the tranfer case was indicating neutral but it drove fine the whole way home; I'm asuming its a electrical gremlin, I've had the XM radio reset itself from a preset to the preview station every once in a while, so the problem may never happen again, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen with autotrac or is it just me?

I know a lot of the Autotrac switches have been having premature failure. Mine had to be replaced a while back after I got the Service 4wd message.
