New Silverado CD fitment

Recommended Posts

I'd like to replace my indash GM CD player with an aftermarket one.  I'd like to put one in that has both tape and CD as I had to have the 40/20/40 front seat, so no center console.  Will a double DIN fit?  Anyone done this?  Recommendations?

I've actually seen some folks put the radio where the climate controls are, and I was thinking of doing the same.  Not sure how complicated it would be, but at least the Po-Po would n't seen the screen up when I was driving!

I'm pretty sure that a double DIN will fit all the Silverado's.. I know a few company's make them in that size with both a CD and tape.. Just search on some of the adio sites such as Crutchfield...

No a double DIN will not fit.  The single DIN doesn't look good either (you would have to use an installation kit-a filler plate).  I installed a DEH77 Pioneer exact fit DIN and 1/2.  Looks hot......and better than factory.  The sound is awesome!Want pics email me at [email protected]

Go to www.crutchfield.com and at the top, click on the "what fits my car" button and follow the prompts. It will list a ton of stuff by make and model # you can use even if you don't buy from them. All there stuff comes with the necessary installation stuff including any plates to fit smaller units.

Technically the deck is a 1.5 DIN chassis.  I've now had the deck in and out a few times and there is some space to play with in their.  I'm not keen on the Pioneers and Pioneer does not make a Tape/CD combo in a 1.5 Din.  Jensen makes the 7015 which actually has two sets of regular RCA outs and a sub out too but Crutchfield wants ? for it.  I can buy a pretty nice Blaupunkt or Clarion for that.  Besides I'm a bit leary of buying a Jensen.

I just got done installing two amps, one two channel(150 X 2) and the second being a four channel(50 X 4) behind the seat.  4 guage wiring to everything.  I have 3 sets of RCA's up to the deck now just waiting for something.  I found a nice fitting prefabbed box for two 10" subs I've had sitting in the closet for a few years so I'll be throwing those in now.  I'm not an amatuer to the Sound field and used to compete in the low wattage power classes 50 and 100 in IASCA before everthing went to dB drags.  Gotta love those high current amplifiers.

  • 3 weeks later...

check out my pictures posted on picture trail.  I am extremely pleased with my DEH 77 Pioneer (both cosmetically and sound).  It is extremely versatile.  I really like the absense of the itsee bitsee buttons that many units out there have.  The menus and rotary volume are easy to operate.

I have seen a ton of trucks with single DIN stereos and (my opinion only) I just dont like the added in look, but each to there own!

If you have any questions let me know.
