I'm trying to ID the cross member referenced in the above bulletin. I have a 2WD Silverado. Is this the round bar that runs from one side of the frame to the other, just behind the auto transmission tailshaft? Just want to make sure. Our dealer is having a hard time obtaining the specified washers, they have been back ordered for weeks. Thanks...

It's the squarish crossmember that's under the engine. It has two large bolts that go through the frame, front to back, on each side.

We've gone through a variation of fixes for the snapping noises these things make. First we were slotting the holes. Then they said don't do that, just clean off the coating and put it back together. Now clean off the coating on the inside and add the washers.

I ordered the washers a while back, but now that you mention it, I don't know if we ever got 'em. Our front end guy does these and the cleaning and retighting without replacing the washers works well. It may come back in 10-20,000 miles, but maybe by then we'll have the washers.
