Just came home with my new Av. Black Z71 with everything but the roof rack. Graphite leather, dimming mirrors, electronic air, hard bed covers, floor mats w/logos, onstar. I can`t remember all right now. What else comes on these things.

I am stoked. Gotta get the windows tinted asap. Do they make bug shields for these trucks?

GM sells a bug shield that you should be able to get from the dealer.  I don't know off hand if any other company makes one yet, but I'm sure some of the other Avalanche owners may be able to tell you.

When you get the bug shield make sure the install the 3M strips - otherwise the "bug" noise @ 75 will drive you nuts - the average mech thinks these are just junk packing material - they threw mine away.

 

BTW: Get a K&N FIPK Gen II real quick and a Gibson cat back - will really kick it. Also replace the DRL's with Sylvania amber long lifes before the whites burn out.

Congrats on the new Aval. If you go to www.gmpartsdirect.com you can get what they call protection package #12497861. You will get molded hood protector, molded splash guards, and vent visors. The kit runs about $115 plus shipping. Gmpartsdirect has a list of all the factory options you can add to your Aval.

Congrats on the new Rig. Welcome to the family! We purchased ours in August and just like those MacDonald's commercials, I will use "any excuse" to go for a ride. It was also nice to see the gas prices take a dive.

Be sure to adjust your rear view mirror compass for the proper declination Zone.

Start a folder for all your important papers and docs.

Order yourself a GM bug sheild and Av mudflaps from gmpartsdirect.com

Find a place in your garage for the hard-cover panel case. I tossed mine in a corner. If you ever remove the covers and put them in the case and strap the whole thing into the bed of the truck like the instructions show....you'll understand what I'm talking about. The thing ends up weighing about 75lbs and just takes up room in the bed. I simply remove the covers and stow them in my garage when I need the whole bed available.

Oil filter is a PF59 (AC Delco).

Go to your dealer and ask them for a free touch-up paint canister. I haven't had to use mine, but I think if we spend over $30k on a vehicle, a little thing of touch-up paint isn't asking for too much?

One more piece of info. After you wash it......Open up the bed......roll up the rubber bed liner and wipe down the bed,  because it will be wet.

If you buy the bug shield from GM make sure it's a bolt on through the holes the manufacture puts in the hood.  Don't put anything on the front of the truck that uses long strips of 3M tape.  What happens when you want to wash or wax underneath it?  Lund makes the interceptor that bolts on with no drilling and comes with the 4 clear rubber nipples that get put on the hood, not the shield, NOT ON THE SHIELD.  If put on the shield it will rub the paint off the hood

Re to the bed being wet under the rubber bed liner on the AV.  Mine did the same thing, and then small rust spots.  I cleaned all the spots off and then painted with matching rust 0'leum.  No more rust.  If you can't find the color, go to Home Depot, tell the paint dept what you want, along with a sample of the color from dealers brocure and they will mix the rust o'leum to the right color.

Congratulations on the new AV. You are absolutely going to love it. We just installed the factory mud flaps pt#12497727 and pt#12497728, one # is the front and one the back. We're getting close to 1000km on ours not a problem yet.
