Occasional starting problems

I have a 2000 Silverado and occasionally (about once every 2 or 3 months) it won't start. It usually happens if I'm in a hurry and let off the ignition before it fires up. Once this happens, it won't even try to fire. After about 10 - 15 minutes of sitting there, it will start fine. Is there some sort of security feature that might cause this? My security light comes on occasionally also - are they related?

Thanks,

Mike

I have this EXACT same problem and found your post searching for a lead to solving my problem. (2000 GMC Z71 Sierra)

My security light comes on once in a while when driving too.

On top of that, it has also developed a serious hesitation off the line. Once cruising all seems well.

I have cleaned the throttle body and MAS, new PCV valve, fuel filter, fuel pump assembly ~ 40k miles ago. Used a hand held code scanner but nothing came up.

I am going to take it to the dealer to see if they can pull a code or something. Maybe my hesitation problem is related.
