Bravada Blows Up and Burns....

So I decided I would go up to the lake today and I was running on empty so I filled up the Bravada and start heading out. Not even 5 minutes from the perimeter my check engine light comes on and I start losing power and I notice the black smoke coming from the ass end of the car.

I immediately pull over and decide to pop the hood to see what's going on. As soon as I popped the hood FLAMES shot out and I quickly slammed the hood shut and booked it hard from the Bravada. This gentleman in a Corvette picks me up and we drive quickly away from the now englufed Bravada.

Since I was in the middle of nowhere it took the fire department 30 minutes to get there, but by that time the gas tank had already exploded and all that was left of the Bravada was a frame, and nothing more.

I want to give a special thanks to the volunteer fire department of Warren as well as Stonewall paremedics for helping me out in my time of need.

Anyways on to the pics. The pics were taken with my camera phone, the only think I salvaged from the fire. In total I lost about $7000 worth of personal belongings in my car as I over 500 CD's in the car, my backpack full of electronics, my system, and miscelanneous other items.

Wow, glad you are o.k. Any idea what caused the fire? Sorry about your ride. I had a vehicle broken into years ago and I know what's it like for insurance not to pay for CD's, Change, etc...

Well I had the vehicle in the shop 4 times now overheating issues and the 3rd time it went in there was smoke billowing from the hood. The dealership said they fixed the issue. However seems to me that they didn't, because it REALLY overheated now.

I'd take it in and ask if they can warranty that

I bet you have a case against them now. Not only did it endanger your life your car is ruined.

So much for that squeak noise you posted about below. Sorry to see that. I haven't had to go through something like that, so I can only start to imagine what you're dealing with right now.

Holy crap! I'm glad to see you made it out OK...I bet you're a bit hot under the collar over that deal.

Now on to the important question...How was the Vette?

Seriously though, that really sucks, and you're very lucky you didn't lose anything more than an eyebrow or two in that carbeque.

I'm glad you're OK too Murano. A vehicle is replacable.

I was involved in a fire incident when I was 12 (not vehicle related though).

But because of that, I've always kept ATLEAST 1 fire extinguisher in any car/truck I've owned. Lately 2, one in the cargo area, and one right behind the drivers seat.

Luckily I've never needed them for my vehicles, but I did need it once when a buddy & I were doing some welding on a riding mower in his garage. Probably saved his house from getting toasted.

Don't let the shop that worked on it try to weasle their way out of responsibility.
