Some of Instument Panel Lights are out on the buttons for my radio and Heater/AC. Its is a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. I have seen Sierra/Silverado's with the same exact problem and have yet to find a solution or hear about one. If anyone has fixed a similar problem could they please help me with a solution. Also the Radio has an in dash CD player that works but an Aux CD player in the center console that has power and feeds CDs but wont play though the radio. It also only ejects the CD when the keys are out of the ignition. Can someone fill me in with electronics expertice?

Thanks,

KP

I replaced all the lights in my factory, Delco CD player/radio. Just pulled the face off and re-soldered new bulbs in. I've had my dash torn apart many times and have located several light bulbs for the dash display. . .it shouldn't be too hard to replace those.

Where did you get the bulbs? I have my original climate control unit torn apart right now so I could put new bulbs in (got a replacement from ebay). I was going through some of the major electronics parts supplier web site, but I've since lost the notes I had written down on best matches.

I also want to replace some of the LEDs for the controls. I want to have a blue LED for the AC buttons and red for defrost! :sigh:

That's a great a idea for the AC and defrost! Is it easy to get to the LED's for those??

For the bulbs in the radio, I just went to Radio Schack and got some. . .they're almost like flashlight bulbs. . .but with about an inch of flimsy wire connectors. I went with them, because the bulb itself was the same size as the stock ones, but they had a longer life-expectancy than the bulbs that matched the OEM exactly. THey were like a buck a piece. It was a little tricky putting the front plate back on because some of the lights got bend and didn't display correctly. I got it in two tries though.

If you get the AC and defrost LED's put in, post up a pic!

I just finished replacing every light bulb in my truck dash. I got most of them from the local autoparts store, but had to go to the dealer for the rest. Check the uploading old tech section, I have the directions for replacing the radio bulbs there as well as a supplier. If you use anyother than the stock kind the lights will be different brightnesses and look funny. Just my $.02.
