There is nothing wrong with DexCool. The product is just fine..the problem is people don't maintain systems properly....allowing air into the system, hence the contaminants get in and sludge things out.

Also alot of people never inspect their systems, maintain them, or peroidically making sure that fluid is in the puke tank so that no air gets back into the system after the vehicle goes through the heat soak.

I am sure there are varying opinions but keep in mind that GM is out to make money, not have have recalls, warranty work etc...they have millions of vehicles running DexCool and things are just fine.

I'd do more research.....

How do you inspect the radiator/cooling system without getting air in it?

Well, since I can't look in my radiator (you probably can't either) because there is no cap...I'll just continue to give a peek at my puke tank from time to time, and make sure it has coolant in it.

The lawsuit is a bunch of BS, it isn't based on a single fact. Dex-cool has been good to me.

Prestone brand green coolant is nasty stuff, I have never seen anything eat head gaskets faster than than that Prestone which starts out a neon fluorescent green color and eventually turns to a regular green. Since then I switched to Wal-mart Supertech green in my cars that take green and haven't had any problems.

Dex-cool in my truck has been great with 133,000 miles. I even put it in one of my cars that takes green coolant and have had absolutely no problems or issues with it.

sigh.......

I can't believe this old argument keeps resurfacing. Do a search for "deathcool", "deathkool", "green stuff", "orange stuff".

Agreed. In a properly maintained vehicle, I believe Dexcool is significantly better than the green. I NEVER leave it in for 100K though. I flush every 50K. I'm at 150K now and I just replaced all my radiator hoses as PM. Decided to replace the water pump while I was in there. The water pump has NEVER leaked in 150K. I have never gotten that kind of mileage out of a water pump on any vehicle runing green.

I believe the problems start when it is left in too long or turns acidic. The poorly designed cooling system in the Blazer (when they first switched) caused problems with Dexcool but they seem to have figured it out.

I can, because the "search" feature never works for anybody.

I had a waterpump failuer this past weekend and when I refilled the system, I used the multifill stuff that is good for both colors of antifreeze. Although I have never had a waterpump go bad during the summer, has anyone else had this problem?
