I dipped Copenhagen for 20 years...Then I watched my dad die of throat cancer at the ripe old age of 56.

 

Yeah...I quit cold-turkey.

 

What really sucks is he didn't dip, chew, or smoke. Heck, he didn't even drink. He was an uber health nut.

I also dipped Copenhagen for 16 years (regular, not the long cut or the other special varieties). I tended to dismiss all the cancer warnings, since I'm fairly fatalistic about life- if I'm gonna die, it's gonna happen, just about anything can cause cancer, yadda, yadda. The thing that really caused me to quit was when I noticed severe receding of my gums around one of my teeth in the area where I usually put my pinch of snuff. The thought of being a toothless old snuff-dipper just doesn't seem all that attractive to me, so I quit about 3 years ago now, and haven't looked back since. :cheers:

Never got into dip thank god :cheers: but did get hooked on smoking unfortunetly but threw the pack down dec 20th of last year and have not looked back!With the money i save every month from not smoking it pays over half my truck payment every month not to mention my truck still smelling nice and new and not like s##t like a smokers car or truck does!

 

The only way to quit is to throw them away, this well ill just cut back every month stuff is crap if you want to quit cold turkey is the best way period and also the cheapest!

I did have help- I used Nicorette gum. But I didn't have to follow the instructions on the packet back as far as how many pieces of gum x certain amount of time or for the number of months they called for. I found the gum worked well for my cravings, but I finished in just over a month.

It's been 6 weeks to the day since I had my last cigarette. Never had a craving since I put them down but I do dip now and occasionally did before I quit smoking.

 

I was dipping Skoal Long Cut Straight but that's a little pricey. Now I'm into Red Seal Long Cut Natural. Pretty good for around $3/can.

Skoal apple... Quit smoking for a while and chewed that, but went back to smoking with my new job and wish i never went back. I'm currently working ona can of skoal peach, which isnt too bad.

Chew gum. That's how I quit smoking. I still chew a lot of it, but it is healthier and cheaper than smoking and dipping.

I think I will try some gum... My grandfather quit like that, with a stick of gum and a toothpick. It just seems like i can't get myself "ready" to guit, I keep tellin myself that ill quit next week. d**n... I just gotta do it...

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
