Info or Pics re 2007 Suburbans?

While I've seen a couple of spyshots of the upcoming new suburbans, the trucks in the photos were pretty well disguised (and there were no interior pictures). Does anyone have any decent photos, or information on specifications for the upcoming SUVs?

I'm asking because I have to decide whether to buy now (with current great deals plus an extra $2k off because of my GM card) or wait for the new ones.

My biggest complaint about the current trucks is the cheesy interior.

My biggest fears about the new ones is that they'll be wimpified--lower ground clearance/bumpers, smaller engines, etc.--to appease the SUV haters out there.

ew looks like a japanese car almost with those lights, kind of like the axom/qx45 etc, and a jeep wrangler from the back, they did a nice job with the lower bumper though

Does anyone know if Chevrolet is indeed going to offer the Duramax/Allison combo in the 07 Suburbans...??

I would get an '06 model. Here is why:

All '07s will supposedly have the Displacement-on-Demand (DoD) engines which cut out four cylinders when not needed. I think this is BS. If I have a V8 I want those cylinders working 100% of the time. Adding this system inevitably adds more complexity and this means lower reliability. And what if this stupid system craps out when you are in the middle of a high speed pass on a two lane road and you need all the power you can get and this thing decides to run on 4 cylinders?

It is inevitable with GM (and most other manufacturers) that the first year major redesigned models will have new problems. They are bound to use some cheap critical component and they will end up recalling thousands of vehicles. I would wait at least until 2008 model year.

Remember the '04 Nissan Titan problems? Inadequately sized brake rotors, radio problems, rear differneital overheating issues.

These are some of the reasons why I bought an '06 truck. It has been in production long enough for GM to work out most of the bugs out of it. Call me old fashioned, but I like a V8 that runs on all 8 cylinders ALL the time. This DoD crap just isn't for me. I am old enough to remember the 1981 Cadillac fiasco when they used such a system. I know, I know, technology is far more advanced today. But an engine is also a mechanical device and cutting out half its cylinders all the time has to cause uneven wear (eventually).

How long has it taken them to get rid of the piston slap problem? And I am not convinced that they eliminated the problem permanently. There is simply not enough long term data available on what happens to these DOD engines after years of service. As I said, more technical complexity means lower reliability. Especially with electronic parts made all over the world nowadays.

BTW, I came awfully close to buying an '06 Impala SS. When I heard that it had the DOD system, I walked away. Now, I would not mind if there was a button you could push to deactivate the system, ie. economy mode (DOD activated) and sport mode (DOD deactivated). I would go for that. But GM apparently cannot think that far to satisfy all people. This is similar to the traction control - it can be disabled on lot of vehicles by pushing a button, because not everybody likes it. Why cann't they do this to the DOD system?
