What gas mileage is everybody getting in thier 2005 Z71 4x4 Suburbans? I have a 2005 GMC Crewcab Z71 with the same engine and rear end as the Suburban and the Gmc gets 2 miles better gas. Weight is the same.

I have noticed that the tail pipe on the Suburban is sooty and the pipe on the Gmc not.

I have an '04 Suburban Z-71 with the 3:73 rear, (I asume that ratio is still standard on an '05 Z-71??) and I get 13.5 around town/mixed driving and 15.5 on the interstate. I could probly do better on the interstate if I slowed down. I usually cruise at 75-80 mph.

Nope mine is 3:42 on both vehicles. I had 3:73 on my 2002 4x4 Suburban and that is one reason I got rid of it. The other reason was the drive shaft from the transfer case to to the front differential was always engaged. and that was stupid on GM's part for the year models 2000-2002.

i have an 04 z71 burb with the 3:73's. around town i generally get 13-14, and on the interstate (with no wind) i generally get a little better than 17 @ 75 mph. for the most part i really keep my foot out of it to conserve on fuel.
