Driveshaft question

My 2k Seirra just started to vibrate at about 2000 rpm , and was makinge a click sound at low speed for about a week :chevy: ( now gone) .Vibration is gone if I put it in Nuetral when on the highway, so it sounds to me like sometings up with the driveshaft  Are these trucks known to have driveshaft and or u-joint issues ? my truck has only 55k on it, and is stock .So whats up with this thing

I really think its the u-joint too, but what the hell ? I dont tow , 99% of my driving is highway, I've had her since she was new ,never done anything that would stress the drive train at all .I mean really this truck is treated like a princess :chevy: why would a u-joint go in this instance? I have blowed out u-joint before but that was stress from burnouts or racing.I did look at the both joints today and it looks like they are held in with a clip ,so does that mean I wont have to use a press to get them in and out ?

No, you still need a press to remove them. Alternative, some large sockets and a big vice might do it. I had to use a press though.

Being a drag racer i wouldnt recomend the greaseable joints because they are considerably weaker. Also the greaseable one will allow water in more easily then the non greaseable ones.

Well the deed is done  and the darn things were shot .I did both fore and aft on the main shaft, took me about 2hrs (with lots of people calling on the phone and buging me) I used a big old vice to press them in and out with a socket :fume: . Now she drives like butter , no more clunk into gear or vibration to speak of , all for $36.20 :seeya:

I guess next on the list will be a tune from Jesse

Good Job with the vise... Replacing U-Joints is a from of artwork. Those little parts take a whole lot of stress. Consider youself lucky, with only 2 to do, I have 4. One in the front, one in the back and 2 in the double carden in the middle where the 2 shafts join.
