Whats going on guys, i just got a 04 1500 silverado ecsb and i was wondering about straight pipes. I want to know if they hurt or improve gas milage and if they hurt or improve performance as in horse power or torque? THanks, i appreciate it

well I have true duals with no cats and glass packs, and it does give you a little bit better throttle response or at least it did on my 350, and the gas mileage is not really affected too much, I mean if you run straights and do some intake work too then you will see improvement, but pipes alone won't do it.

Agree with meaty!

And on a down side I have noticed your MPG will probably go down. Now this is not b/c of the new setup... but the fact that you will probably drive the truck harder to make the exhaust talk to ya lol.

I run Flowmasters with a electric cutout that I run open more than closed. I can feel a little more throttle response with it opened.

If you really want to pick up gains. I would suggest getting a good set of headers. Like Thorley Try-Y' or something and run a nice flowing muffler after that. Throw on a nice flowing intake and call it a day.

please don't run straights. i know "different stokes, different folks"

But the sound of straight is down right annoying. i think you'll enjoy a good set of mufflers, (Flowmaster, Magnaflow) much more. but it is your truck
