Hey what's up, I'm from New Orleans Area and yesterday I notice that the head liner was wet and it was driping water, there's no dealerships open today due to the hurricanes we had for the past weeks but what should I do, I took part of the side paneling out to realise the headliner but I can't pull it down cause is full of water and don't want to mess it up then the dealership say that I cause the problem. It's mainly on the back where the back window is I think is coming from the brake light, but when I pull down the headliner it looks dry on that area but it's wet all around it, need some help since no one is open, what should I do wait till monday and bring it to the dealership? we have had few showers arouknd the area but the truck has not been under water at all. Help :banghead:

I'd just cover the cab with a large tarp and let the dealer worry about it once they open back up, but then, I'm too cheap to spend my own money when I can bitch at a service manager and get it done for free =).

Been some problems with leaks on the roof seam. That seam is under the molding that runs from the front to the back on both sides of the roof. You'd have to yank that molding out and seal the seam, but you are better off letting the dealership do it.

If it's already soaked, I would just wait until Monday if they'll be open then.

Wow, weird. I'm not saying I'm just saying, kinda seems like GM's quality is really taking a dive lately. I'm a to the bones GM guy so I hate seeing this, but it really does. They keep loosing money and cutting corners because of it. Just IMO.

Well, here's the update. Took it yesterday around 830am was waiting around the house for a phone call like they said they were going to do haha I had to call them around 3 and said we need it for another day to run some more test but the technician saw that it was wet back there. I said ok when I'm going to know something about the truck again we call you in the morning I said ok what's going to happen if you take longer then an extra day, well we need to run the test first and then other parts if we have to. I said, well in the mean time I need a truck to work cause I have plenty work to do and I'm losing 500 bucks a day because my truck is in the shop thanks to a water leak, they told me that they can't find me a rental car in the moment because enterprice don't have any local locations open due to the hurricane that we had, which I undertand but that don't solve my problem I told them. I was told by the women in the service department since I didn't buy the truck from them, they can't help me in the case, I said but it's a GM product, so pretty much she told me ok. they can't give a loaner car cause I didn't buy the truck from them, and I had make an arrengement with my sales person on that matter, but we are talking about a gm problem again and they can't help me to get a loaner or a rental truck. I talk to the service manager and told me that same thing and that it was going to take them 3 extra days to fix the problem but they knew where it was coming from, which is werd since my wife had call maybe 5 minutes before I got there and told her that they haven't do anything with the truck, now all of the sudden they know from where the problem is coming from the 3rd brake light with I think is wrong cause when I looked there that area was dry buy they are the profesionals and we the costumers don't know s**t. So then they told me that they were going to take the carpet and the headliner out clean it out good and dry the truck and were going to put it back on the truck, I told them you have to be kidding me and they told me no that's what they do, I told them ok let's said you do that and 2 or 3 months down the road theres mold growing on my carpet and the headliner, and my warranty expired what I was going to do, they pretty much told me well you out of LUCK. I told them to give a number where I can call and talk to someone that could help me and gave me the 1 800 number.

All I have to say is THANK YOU GM you have screw another custumer and future one, but not now I was ready to get a tahoe for my wife but not now I gave GM a shot thinking and reading that they were the big boys on trucks, they fool the f**k out of me, they are great in that.

This was my FIRST AND LAST GM PRODUCT I WILL EVER GET. It's just plain JUNK. NO WONDER WHY NISSAN AND TOYOTA HOLD THERE VALUES BETTER. I SHOULD OF JUST GOTTEN A DAMM TITAN AND NOT THIS CRAP THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR 5 f**kING YEARS.

:dupe: THANKS GM.

All i gotta say is...drive a 98+ Ford F150...then come and tell me GM products suck.

I wish i had a leaking headliner problem in all our Fords...we just had random 4.2L V6 Engine Failure, caused by Ford's cheaply built piece of s**t V6.

First of all you cant blame GM since the hurricane is not ther fault and the dealer is an independant vender. Lets assume the person your wife talked to wasnt informed and the tech was indeed working on the leak. The carpet will dry and wasnt in a flood condition no harm done. It will be OK and any other dealer/MFR would do the same thing dry it out. Finding a leak is hard some times. The leak may be coming from the CHIMSL but ending at a different place (no different than a roof leak in a house) Give the dealer a chance especally since they arent the selling dealer and are just trying to fix the problem. Your blaming GM for some thing they havent had a chance to fix. Call your selling dealer and have them fix you up with a loaner. They can do that.

yall have to understand that I haven't had any kind of problems with my previous cars. If I put all my cars together and count on how many problems I have had with them it don't come close to how many problems I have had with this truck, all my previous cars have been new also, the other manufactures had gave me a loaner car because they were taking to long on doing a oil change so on service it don't come even close to the other manufactures that I had deal with in the pass. Sorry for over reacting but I don't think these kind of problems should not happen on a brand new vehicle that cost 32k I'm sorry.

4ngoods,

I had a similer problem with my 97 Z71 but it was due to Safelight Glass Co. installing the windsheild improperly. I had a super small leak that ran down around the heater box under the carpet to the small channel that runs along the door edge.I never noticed it because the floor mats covered all of it...It went on for about 6 months before I started smelling mold. I pulled the carpet out and "holy crap what a smell" the jute padding on the back was soaking wet from the front of the truck to the back seat...Seems that as I drove the water in the channel ran from the front to the back. I had it drying in the garage for over a week..I sprayed all kind's of crap on it to get rid of the smell..It NEVER went away..I called Safelight and told them that the rug still smells and that it wont go away and that they will be responsible for replacing it..They wanted to take it and have it checked by there guys and sent it out to be cleaned I told them come on down and pick it up...after 2 weeks of arguing they came to the house took one wiff of it and said No Problem, We will send out a check to you as soon as we get a quote from an auto body shop...They at first wanted to give me some crap replacement carpet,I told them NO WAY I want the factory GM one that was in it...After about a week of argueing back and forth I got what I wanted...The Point I am tring to make is: first is, All you can hope for is that this has just happend and that it doesnt already smell, If it does smell like mold that is a very big deal..I know a woman who will just about drop dead if she comes in contact with black mold..If it smells moldy demand to have it replaced..Second and most important is the people who complain the most always get taken care of...If you think that your being taken over the coals, call the local GM Rep for your area and complain to him till his ears bleed. Chances are he will do what it takes to make you happy...and the last is when all else fails, you have to be creative, you and I work hard for the money that we make every week and I do what ever it takes to get satisfaction..$32,000 is a years salary for some people while GM makes that in an hour..I agree with redvett give them a chance to correct it first,If then your not happy  ,let them know it...

this is going to be my last post on this. To top it off my wife picked the truck up and walks around the truck and notice that the "red brake light is broke, the one that you put in the trailer receiver and acts like a 4th brake light" anyways she was going to say something but she didn't know if I had done it or what, so she call me and told me that, so to make the story shorty they told me that they didn't do it, but I had driven around the parking lot allready looking for evedence of my reflector and guess what it was at their parking lot apperently they hit my truck from the back and the light broke hahahaha can you belive it, then they sitting there saying no we didn't do that, so I talked to the service mananger and told her what had happend and got a new light, because I showed her where was it, I can't belive the service of this dealership. oh yeah their name is "Rainbow Chevrolet" no wonder why everything is f up --------------------------------------------------^^^^^.
