Front End Rattle/Vibration

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 Silverado ext. cab 4x4. My daily communte to work, ironically a GM assembly plant, takes me on a entrance ramp that is somehwat bumpy. Everday on this ramp, a downhill grade, I hear and feel a rattle/vibration in the front end of the truck. I don't really feel it through the steering wheel though. I'm typically going about 30mph and am turning the wheel to the right. Any thoughts on what causing the vibration/rattle?

Sure sounds like the intermediate steering shaft lube issue to me. Except I feel it in the wheel when turning around 25-30mpoh on a bumpy surface. When I lube mine (every 30K), it goes away for about 25K miles. There is a sticky up top with a proceedure.

Should this be covered under warranty?

Absolutely. You may be able to get them to replace the intermmediate shaft which some have said cured it long term.

At 152K, I'm stuck lubing it myself or paying for the part.
