So how the heck do I know what function the x-fer case is in? I dont want it to be in 4high if im on dry pavement....

I have read its probally jus tin the swich where the problem is, thoughts?

Everything seems fine, but this AM when I pulled into the parking lot and was making a turn on sealed asphault I felt the front 'skipping' like it was in 4 high...

Didnt think much of it until now. :chevy:

Most likely the switch, known issue. I got mine stuck in 4/lo once. Shut ignition off and restarted (like a computer?) an was able to swith back to 2/hi. Went straight to dealer and got a switch for around $35. Easy install.

The switch failed on my Tahoe in the same way. Replaced under warranty. Extremely common failure and I would start there if I were you.

This is a common problem which I heard is due to poor solder joints in the switch. The same thing happened to my dad's 99. I ordered the switch off of the internet; around $45 dollars with shipping. Replaced it in about 5 minutes and the problem was solved!

I pulled mine apart and desoldered and resoldered all the pins for the connectors. Haven't seen it since...

The really strange part is that you don't even need tools, except maybe a pocket knife. Everything is snapped together. You have to be careful not to break any of the clips, but it wasn't that hard.
