Question: doesn't say this in the procedure...but do you have to raise the truck in any manner...to take stress off the bar?  I tried turning, I'm pretty strong, but before I broke anything I'd ask...tia

Some say you do, some don't.  I had discount tire crank mine while getting my free tire rotation.  He said they do them all the time.  I asked if he should do it on the lift and he said no, just on level ground.

Held a tape measure up while the guy underneith says "say when" ziiiiiiiiiiip..  Took about 5 min for both sides.

I did take it to another place a couple a weeks later to check the alignment.  It didn't pull or anything.  Seemed fine, but he said everything was way off.

Like chane said, you don't have to, but the way I see it, If you have the tools to lift it off the ground a little, do it.  No sense in putting any extra stress on the bolt, keys, t-bars, etc. when you don't have to.   :)

More stress gets put on the bars and keys just driving down the road then you could do just turning them a few cranks, but like everyone said you can do it either way :)

Yeah, I know that, I'm just saying why put any more when you don't have to.  That's just what I would do.  :)

I was told by a Chev mechanic friend of mine to always raise the front end off the truck before cranking the torsion bars, and if you go over 2 turns its a good idea to get the wheel alingnment checked (sometimes the camber will be thrown off).
