8.1 Cold Start

Forgive if this is an old topic . . . . .

 

When the ambient temperature is below (approx) 30F, the truck is dead

when turning the key - no click, no connect, no crank.

 

As the weather turns colder here in Michigan, I'd like to regain

the reliability I've had all summer!

Have someone put their finger on the start relay when you have this problem. Turn the key to the crank position and have them see if they can feel the relay click. It's not a significant click, so it might be difficult to tell.

 

You could also swap a relay from another location in the box (underhood). There are often several identical relays for different things. That would eliminate the relay as the cause.
