I changed the fluid/filter today for the 12k mark. Yes I know--2 years and 12k is too much

I got a 2ft breaker bar, and a 15mm 6pt socket. I went for a drive to get my supplies, came back, barely pulled and it broke loose.

I was worried i was going to be f'd on a Sunday doing this..lol

mine too came out easy. the trick is to use a 2' breaker bar. then the socket isn't slipping off when you apply pressue. it just breaks loose.

However dropping the pan is another story, with the linkage in the way !!!!!

I barely tugged on the bar and it came right off.

No cussing, no nothing...I usually would have cussed and grabbed the air chizel and hammered the bitch out..lol

Dropping the pan took about 5 minutes. I got a T-40? to remove the linkage bracket, moved it out of the way, and away I went buzzing with the 10mm & air rachet.

Pulled the filter, cleaned the pan with brake parts cleaner, wiped the gasket clean and back on it was.

30 min job.

my plug came out with a regular 3/8 inch socket wrench. the hardest for me was trying to manuever the pan around the linkage without spilling the fluid that couldnt drain out of the plug hole... which was a lot.... and which i found out is hotttt and stays hotttt for a long time

and how did you get your arm around the driveshaft to get to the T40 bolts?

there certainly isn't much room. I was able to get out the rear T40, but not the front. so I gave up, and just changed the fluid, no filter.........

I'm embarassed to admit that I bent the bracket out of the way with a prybar, then bent it back when I was done.

It wasnt hard at all. I used a 3/8" rachet & torx socket as well!

I ran my hand behind the transfer case kinda sorta and the other one up top. Hard to explain but everything came off and its all back together, bolts are tight as a nuns cu*t...lol
