My question is.... I've got a 92 GMC 1/2 ton stepside tha came from the factory nwith the V6 5 speed. I changed out the motor and tranny last winter with a 350 (throttle body injection) and a 700R4 tranny (with lockup converter). Well the auto isn't all that I thought it would be. For all the towing I do I like the 5 speed better. Therefore my question is will the 5 speed that came out with the V6 work with the 350? I've still got everything in my garage from the hydraulic reserve to the shift boot. I kept it just for ths reason. :shakehead:

Thanks.

If it was the 4.3 and it probably was it should bolt up. The bellhousing are the same if I remember correctly.

The mod here wont answer questions about modifications in the area. But I ain't skeered  , if I know something about it. One thing you might consider... The general may use a less (strengthwise) tranny behind the v-6. So keep that in mind if you romp on it alot.

Sorry still trying to figure this site out. Thanks for the input. Tuesday i'm going to drop the auto and at least put the 5 speed back in and see if it works. Will I need to install new pilot bearing or will the one already there work?

Thanks.
