I have a whining noise from the back,is it possible that my distributor is going south?I know it hard to answer unless you hear it but what is the typical milage to replace factory equip? It has 148,000 miles

Can't say I've heard a distributor make a whining noise. You're right, without being right there hearing it, it is hard to say. And I can't give you a typical mileage at which it will fail because there is none.
