2000 Sierra rear brakes

I've got a 2000 GMC Sierra 2wd extenede cab. Need to replace rear brake pads. What are the stock pads made of ceramic or semi metallic? I have a piece of the pad off of the truck and when put next to a magnet it sticks to the magnet leading me to believe that the pads are semi metallics. Although I have read that the stock pads are ceramic. Anybody know? THANX!!!!

I'm not sure but from what I've read on here in the past a lot of people swear by the factory pads (surprising eh?) and are getting quite good mileage out of them with low dust.

If I recall correctly, the factory pads in 2000 were semi-metallic, but GM now offers ceramics which retrofit. I don't know what comes on the newer trucks.

I put Delco ceramics on mine all the way around and liked them until one of the rear pads delaminated from the backing plate and fell off, nearly causing me to rear end someone at the end of an off-ramp. Yikes!

I replaced the rears with AutoZone ceramics when I changed out the then heavily scored rotor and its twin on the other side. Fronts have been problem-free and I get very little dust on either axle.
