04 S-10 Blazer

Well we got our first substantial snow fall here in KS and wouldnt you know 4X4 on the wifes S-10 blazer wouldnt lock in...it is push button and the 4x4 high button lit up but never locked in...so wouldnt you know it when my wife needed it it wouldnt work...they have replaced the switch in it before so that is what my guess is...any other opinions...thanks for any help

If the light comes on, and you hear the motor make the change, it's not the switch. There another part, actuated by vacuum, to enage the front diff, there may be a problem with that system.

Yep, you first need to determine if it's the front axle that's not engaging while the transfer case is, or if the transfer case is not even making the shift.

 

A 2004 sounds like it should still be under warranty unless you've put a lot of miles on it in that short time.

Turns out it was the sillinoid (sp?) on the front diff that locks it in...and yes it is under warranty so it got fixed yesterday and i picked it up last night...everything seems to work just fine
