GM-Tech Question

Just wondering, my steering is fine until I get over 60 MPH then it seems like it gets loose. I thought it was supposed to be looser at slower speeds and tighten up a little at higher speeds??? Also when going down the road over 60 I will get sucked into every vehicle I start to pass then blown away from them when I am almost finished passing them. I only notice this at speeds over 60.

No, the electronic variable orifice steering system went away with when the old body style GMT400 trucks were phased out in 1998 and SUV’s in 1999. It almost sounds like your caster is set up pretty high.

Not true. My 01 Tahoe has an EVO sensor (I replaced) and has variable orifice hoses. I had a similar oversteer problem on highway before I replaced it. Felt like wind was blowing even though it wasn't. Replacing the sensor made a significant improvement.

Ah, your right…..the GM fools kept EVO around until 2002 on SUV’s. I still stand by my claim of GMT800 trucks never got EVO.

The hand wheel speed sensor at the base of the steering column is notirous for failing on EVO equipped rigs.
