This weekend I went to drive the truck and everytime I hit the brakes, the steering wheel would jerk to the right. I'm talking severe. Well, I thought one of the calipers wasn't working so I took the wheels off Sunday to check the brakes. Everything looked good. I even pushed the pistons back in and let them reseat to the pads.

Well, as I was putting the passengers side back together I noticed that when I went to tighten the screws on the caliper, the whole suspension assembly moved.

I thought, "that's not suppose to happen." On checking it closer, I noticed that the upper A-arm was loose. The bolts were hand tight. So, everytime I hit the brake, the A-arm would move back.

I had the truck aligned at the dealership about a month ago and noticed that the alignment was gradually getting worse. Now I know why!

The damn tech. didn't tighted the bolts all the way.

Took the truck in this morning and told them and now I'm waiting for an answer. I told them I wanted another alignment, but this time I wanted the tech to tighten the bolts per spec.

I was pissed. The bolt was just rattling around in the hole. If that thing would have come out going 70mph, I would have been toast!

Don't you just love the dealer?

I'm glad you found it before something catastrophic happened.

I hope the loose A-arm didn't cause the bolt holes to become "egg shaped".  And if it did, I hope they replace everything, and not Micky Mouse your truck back together with Loctite and Duct Tape...

Nasty thing to happen to a Gulf Coast guy, or anybody. I would echo Shaners - watch while they fix it - you had it for a month, could have been more damage than seems. :ehh:

Hey guys, got the truck back tonight and everything is fine, except the alignment is a hair off. I'm really picky about my alignment. Most times I have to take it back more than once for them to get it correct.

The good thing is I only drove about 20 miles on the loose bolt. Once I discovered the problem, I didn't drive it.

I checked everything out myself and it looked okay.

Going to take it back Thursday and have them do it RIGHT!!

I took my truck to Firestone and they don't know crap, now the dealership doesn't know crap either. Where the #### do I take my truck?

jayo take it mac haik and go see kevin tryvd, tell him i sent u, trust me, he knows who iam, and he knows how picky i am, he'll make sure it gets done right

Well, got the truck fixed, but had to take it back twice because I wasn't happy with the alignment. I'm still not happy with it, but it's enough to not hassle with it anymore. I'm so anal about the alignment and no one can ever get it right.

Chevy trucks have to be set with the right wheel set back farther than the left. if you take it to an alignment shop, they will align it even steven and the truck will pull to the right.

Well, the dealership aligned it, but they didn't offset the right wheel enough. They gave me the old "tire pull" routine.

I'm so tired of screwing with it. I wish I knew how to adjust the tire offset and I'd do it myself.

I had the truck perfect when they first did it, then the A-arm went loose (boy, don't you hate it when that happens), now it's a hair off and I hate it.

Everyone treats you like you don't know anything and their techs are gods.

From what I've seen, the techs aren't gods. They don't know as much as people give them credit for. I know there's a bunch out there that know everything, but the few screwballs have ruined it for the rest.

Okay, I'm done bitch'n

All cars come from the factory with a slight pull to the right.  It is a safety feature to keep mindless people from drifting into oncoming traffic.

I'm not immortal or anything, but I still have a small contingent of worshipers.  I'd never FUBAR an alignment like that though.  If the bolts had worked their way completely out and the A-arm came off its mount, that would have been an accident for sure.  And the dealer would be on the hook for the whole bill.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of machine is that dealer using?
