Outdoor Temp Sensor

For my 2005 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab pickup - Please advise where the "factory" outdoor temperature sensor wiring connection is made? I am replacing my rearview mirror with an after-market unit that includes compass & temperature readouts. Found out that the existing 7-pin factory cable connector fits & powers the new mirror just fine - saved a lot of cable routing hassle! Figure there must also be a standard connection point (under hood?) for my new temperature sensor that I can use to avoid routing wires (2) all the way to the mirror. Any help is appreciated.

The ambient air sensor is located on the radiator core support, behind the grille. Sorta towards the center. You have to pull the grill which is a fun job. I can almost guarantee you'll lose part of the little black retainers that go across the top of the grille unless you're super careful.

 

That said, I highly doubt the wiring is there for the sensor. I have an '05 Colorado myself (with no temp readout mirror) and I'll go take a peek.

Thanks for your help so far. What I'm thinking is that since the factory rearview mirror (map lights only model) was supplied by a multi-conductor cable (I'm guessing the same cable is used in case the more featured factory mirror is used?), that the unused wires have to terminate somewhere. If I knew where the terminations were, I'd just connect my new sensor (supplied with my new mirror) to the existing terminal points & avoid routing wires up the post, under the headliner, etc.

According to the schematic, the two wires for the ambient sensor signal to the mirror (Yellow wire and a Dark green w/white stripe) make their next stop at connector C104. Our service information says that connector is at...

 

"Forward lamp harness to body harness, front of engine compartment right front inner fender below air cleaner next to C103"

 

It's an 8 pin connector. Be VERY careful because there's a yellow wire and a green wire in that connector that belongs to the air bag frontal sensor. Wiring into that wouldn't be cool!

 

You want terminals G and H in C104.
