90 GMCSierra, changing out the inst cluster

I have a 90 GMC pickup (1500) that I would like to change out the rolling dial instrument cluster for needles. I remember reading an article about this way back when, but don't remember what magazine I saw it in (Sport truckin?). Does anyone know of how to do this or can point me to the magazine that published that article?

thanks!

The first year for the needles was the late '91 model year and it came with a tach.

If you can find one in a salvage yard from a '91 thru '94 it should plug right in. The dash was redesigned in '95, I dont remember if the clusters from then on will fit.

thanks for the input but are you sure it's a direct plug in? The reason I ask is someone pointed me to this link:

In this discussion, they are specific to using a 94 guage so there it's possible something changed a little bit between these versions. If so, do you have any idea what?

Thanks again for the input!
