Transmission shift

I was in tow/haul mode bringing the boat back home and as I was slowing down for a red light and could feel it down shift into second the light turned green so I let off the brake and press the gas tires jumped like it had no idea of what gear to be in I've only got 8500 miles on this thing(2005 gmc 1500 crew 5.3,3.73) they did one flash and that didn't seem to help any other ideals. thanks

I know shifts are noticeably harsher in tow mode. Could just be a situation where tranny was in between gears and because of the weight and the tow mode it acted like it did.
