Hi, My name is Lee Clark and I live in Elkton Md. and my wife bought me a new 2005 GMC Z71 4 door for Christmas last year. It has been to the dealer at least 8 times for warranty service and has less than 10,000 miles on it. It took three visits to stop a water leak in the cab, it was shipped with a defective climate control head that didn't work at all, it had insufficient freon and oit in the A/C from the factory and that caused the compressor to be noisey, the headliner was loose from the roof of the cab and that had to be reglued, one door seal wasnt fitted, and now it is cutting the inside of the front tires and they have been rotated twice. The dealer: Anchor Pontiac GMC in Elkton has told me that this truck has an inherent problem and the manufacturer is working With Bridgestone on a new tire. When I asked the service manager how many other trucks were doing this he didn't know. Also, a rattle could be felt through the steering and the dealer said again this was an inherent problem and that the manufacturer had tried replacing parts of the steering linkage but since this was not a cost effective fix GM has obsoleted the part and that a new grease was being used at the joint. However this still means that the joint will probably have to be disassembled ever 10,000 miles or so to be regreased. I've had it. No wonder GM is laying off and cutting salaries, if this is an example of American quality it ain't sh-t. I have a six year old Dodge with 110,000 miles on the clock that I wouldn't trade for any GM built truck on any lot in Maryland. I am waiting on a call back from GM to see if they will exchange or buy back; but I guarantee one thing and that is you will never see another GM built product in my driveway that I paid for. MY 2005 GMC Z71 4 DOOR IS JUNK.

Sorry to hear you're having so many problems. I have owned chevy/gmc trucks my whole life and thoroughly enjoy them. Sounds like you got a lemon and that is covered by the maryland lemon law the dealer has to exchange it for an identical truck or give full refund if an identical opted vehicle can not be located. Don't quote me not exactly sure but try looking up maryland lemon law. This should help you out. Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the Z71.

Every vehicle manufacture out there has lemons. I had a Dodge Dakota for about 2 years purchased new. Had transmission problems by 30K I was on my 3rd transmission and that was about to go. After 2nd replacement all I did was drove truck to and from work.
