New Member w/ Couple of Questions

First, I'll say "Hello Everyone"!! This looks like a great website. I am sure I will visit often!!! I just bought my '99 Silverado about a week ago! I love it! Amazed at the power of this 5.3L!!

Question 1: Where can I find a copy of the 1999 Chevy Trucks sales brochure?

Question 2: The rear push-out window behind the drivers seat doesn't seal very good. Water doesn't get in, but at highway speeds the noise is a little annoying. Can it be adjusted?

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Illmac is right about a service bulliten from GM concerning the the wind noise from the rear side windows.  I had mine replaced under this TSB when I had my '00 1500 excab.

you might want to check ebay for the brochure...

Welcome to the forum, and have fun here!!!

Welcome to both of you.  Hope you enjoy the site.  Feel free to post often.

For the sales brochure, I went though the same thing.  Dealers had no more '99's and i tried a few web sites, like mentioned above, but with no luck.  I ended up asking on every forum I could find.  Someone finially contacted me and said they had an extra one.

There is a TSB for replacing the rear windows, it's #99-08-48-001A.  I think it's still a current TSB.  I had it performed on my truck, and it helped a lot, especially on the passengers side.

The best site that had the full TSB's was shut down, or something.  That's too bad, cause it had lots of good info.

Mark,

Welcome. I had the replacement under TSB performed some time back.  The dealer ordered the parts and had a third party actually install (a local windshield replacement business), and they did a beautiful job - nice and tight and flush to the body!  (Wish they could have done the other side also).  According to the dealer then, they indicated if the window was noisy and ~ 1/4 " offset from flush, they'd authorize replacement.

As long as you're under warranty, they should fix it.

Thanks again everyone for the welcomes!

I found the brochure (his last one! ) at:

www.kenmcgeeautobooks.com

Thanks again hilly!!

GreenRado: When you said, "~ 1/4 " offset from flush", are you talking about flush with the outside surface of the body? 1/4" beyond flush w/ body?
