Crushing Sadness, Then Joy

(Part Three)

Just then, I had a yet another brilliant idea.

It came down to a mercifully quick solution, one that can work for YOU, too.

The elation I felt at contributing to the rescue of our local GMC dealership was on the verge of turning into anger at having forgotten to get MY needs taken care of.   But just as I turned to leave the sales lot, who pops up from behind an old battered 1985 Silverado but the raving lunatic sales manager.

Turned out that sly cat wasn’t so screwy after all.   That act of his up there on top of the Aztek was nothing but a clever sales ploy, designed to lower the resistance of a potential customer (me) by getting me to think that if I don’t go along he’d slash my throat.   Ok, maybe I secretly wanted to be taken in by his game.

Anyhow, he told me quite frankly that he was gauging my reaction the entire time.   Which I immediately understood was the truth, since I could see he was a keen observer of people.

“Sure,” he laughed, “the whole dealership was in on it from the start.   But knowing that doesn’t do you any good, since you STILL can’t manage to reset your clock”

“Wrong,” says I.  “Tomorrow I’ll just go over to my friends house and the girl will fix it right up.”

“Oh sure you will,” he says, smirking in my face, “but what about next fall, then next spring again?”

Well, I had to admit he had a pretty good point there, so I cut to the case and asked him for his best offer.

He didn’t miss a beat;

“$300 over invoice, same as Autobytel.  But  I’ll throw in a set of mudflaps, AND since you’re buying local you get to drive past our used car lot every day for the next three weeks to see how much we screwed you on the trade in.”.

“That’s tempting.” I reply, “but the terms are ALL cash and NO trade-in.”

He immediately started into his crazy Charlie routine again; “Why you stupi…..”   But then he stopped and a big smile spread across his face, as he realized that today he had met his match.   So we shook hands and went into his office to complete the paperwork.

Have you figured it out yet?   You see, my brilliant solution can now be your brilliant solution, too.  One you can impress all your friends with.   I’m keeping my first truck, with the clock set on Standard Time, AND earlier today I bought a similar truck with the clock set for Daylight Savings Time.   So I’ll never again have to suffer in embarrassed shame at having a mis-configured clock.   And the sales manager didn’t see it coming until it was too late.   BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Am I ahead of the game, or what?!?!?!?!?!?

Tuna,

 I would ask you if my skidplate, or possibly the entire truck, fell on your head while you were installing it...but since I have yet to ship it I guess we will have to look elsewhere for an explaination.... :thumbs:  :D  :)
