Exhaust ?

I know we've probably answered this before but... On a 02 extcab Z71 I want to bolt up a muffler and just run a turn down out of the muffler.

 

Not worried about performace gains, just want it to sound a little more like a truck.

 

Would like to be able to take this off and reuse original exhaust if needed. Anybody have a setup like this.

Any Cat Back exhaust will basically accomplish this, the only difference would be the turn downs. If that is a MUST then I would go to an exhaust shop see if they have a used factory exhaust flange and pipe that no one wants, from a truck like yours. (The part that bolts to the "Y-pipe") Cut the remaining factory exhaust off, weld on a muffler and turn down, and also a piece that can reuse the factory hanger. That would insure keeping the new exhaust and original bolt-on and off.

 

Let's say that someone got rid of they're factory exhaust, you want the section from the mounting flange back to the factory muffler. Mount a new muffler of your choice in place of the factory with a turndown out the butt of it. Then mount a piece that will hang on one of the factory hangers.
