Tahoe Headrest Removal

Anyone know how to remove rear (middle seat) headrest assembly from 2001 Tahoe?

Those are the ones that automatically unlatch to swing when the seat is folded.

I need more room when the seat is down but don't want the posts to remain in the way.

If they are the same as my truck, there is a little tiny hole down where the posts meet the seat.  Push a nail or coat hanger in there and pull up the head rest.

The support rods appear to be welded to a horizontal pipe that runs across the top of the seat back. The pipe rotates to allow the headrest to fold down.

Not going to be easy, if at all possible.

GREAT idea.  I've noticed they get in the way sometimes also.  But I also like the fact that they are on the seats too....less wiplash for the 2nd row spectators.  :)

I would think GM could spend perhaps another $25 to design it so the head rests could remain attached or quickly taken off.  After all, it is a $35,000+ vehicle.  ???
