Where are the original movie themes?

No wonder why I haven't been to a theatre in almost 2 years. Beside the monies, it is good these days to be Netflix subscriber, to at least have a better chance of watching at least good movies.

Just noticed tonight on SNL a trailer for a Bruce Willis film - 16 Blocks.

Seen it....when it was presented in 1977 as The Gauntlet - Clint Eastwood

How many remakes of King Kong are there still to come?

As exciting V for Vendetta will probably be...the underlying theme was done in Fritz Lang's 1927 Metropolis.

Old TV shows to movies...stop it...some exceptions like Star Trek, but a galactic size NO to MI (as long as goof Cruise is doing them)

Comic books to movie...okay...a few are just good...too many that are plain bad

I'm not saying all of the recent (last 10 years) movies are not originals but nothing really good. Some standouts I can think of are Memento, Unusal Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Almost Famous and Pirates of the Caribbean. Although with Unusal Suspects i'm thinking this was done before, but can't think what is it could have been.

Just another round of "everything old is new again." The auto industry, fashion industry, film industry, music industry, etc. Maybe even the tech industry is a reverter to the olden ways. Nothing to be surprised at, really. Sometimes it works, sometime it don't.

I don't know...What's that new Samuel Jackson movie?

Snakes on a Plane?

C'mon, with a title like that, it's gotta be a winner.

I can just see him saying it..."Snakes on a mother****ing plane!"

...And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers...

Who's the black private dick that's

"SAY WHAT AGAIN. I DARE YOU TO SAY WHAT AGAIN, M^%#^#@!%*%$!"

Call me Keyser Soze. I thought The Usual Suspects was a good movie, but I had a hard time believing Kevin Pollak was a bad-ass and there should've been subtitles everytime Benecio Del Toro spoke. I couldn't understand a thing he said during the whole movie.

I don't mind remaking old movies in general as long as they're better than the original. However, I do believe great classics shouldn't be touched.

They are out of ideas in Hollywood. Unless it is politically driven, and frankly, people don't want to pay hard earned money to hear someone elses political thoughts, they are just out of fresh ideas. Yes, there are some good "new" movies. I loved Pirates of the Carabean, there is supposed to be a new one this summer and a third next summer. I hope they do the first one justice.

How many bad Batman movies have we had?? Spiderman??

New Ideas are rare, but sometimes good.

How about a Movie about a man and his beloved Chevy Truck. Sort of a timeline type of thing. The joy of doing things with his truck and the sorrow of maybe a recall or repair or two. You know they could have a very sentual sceane with him washing his truck and all the soap and washing and rubbing. Maybe even given the choice between his truck and his bitch of a wife he chooses the truck, the ONLY constant in his life. Call it "Broken Down Chevy" LOL O.K. This is a really screwed up idea and maybe I should go talk to someone but at least it IS ORIGINAL!!!! :)

Hmm I might go see that if they played it in a drive thru. The Chevy might even win an Oscar for it's role in it. :chevy:

It was definitely safe for the sheep...Pamela Anderson is happy

When did sheep herders became known as cowboys?

I never seen Sam the Sheep dog and Ralph the wolf in Warner Cartoons get all social on each other

Gosh GM-Trucks, I can't seem to quit you

FYI, don't believe them thar two screenplay weasels.

1. Tucson is not respresentative of their wacked (pun no, maybe?) views

2. They barely spend 4 months a year in Tucson, so it ain't their home.

Brokeback was a great movie, it was cinematographically beautiful, and seeing Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway topless wasn't to bad either.

I try to make it to the movies at least once every weekend, I don't really mind what hollywood is putting out.. at least it's something to do on the weekend, better than sitting at home pigging out watching dvd's all the time.
