1998 gmc jimmy sle, While vehicle is in drive or park it sounds like the blinker is constantly on, when in fact it is not. However, when the brake is pressed the noise stops. Ever heard of this? Very annoying.

Please help my sanity!

Thanks-

Sarah

I'm having the same problem with my 97 full size for about 6 months now. I've been told that it is the blinker/cruise/wiper control arm has a short in it. I haven't replaced mine yet because the dealer wants like $300 for a new one. I did find out that autozone has an aftermarket one for around $150 and I may try that route. It is very annoying but I'm starting to get used to it but I will probably fix it in the next month or so. If you don't get yours fixed before then I will let you know if that is what it is.

Well this is an outside chance but its possibly the BTSI solenoid. It is de-energized when you press the brake pedal. The solenoid could be cycling. Its worth a quick look. Take the bottom cover on the steering wheel off, you will see a 2 wire connector with one green wire with a white tracer and a black wire. Unplug it and see if it stops. If it does just take it off and pitch it in the trash. :chevy:

I'll give that a try, Thanks for the tip. So I take it that wire is not needed? What is it there for then?

do not buy the aftermarket multifunction switch from autozone, they are junk, trust me i tried the cheap way too and it bit me in the ass, find a parts store that sells ac-delco and get a good one, the parts store will be cheaper than your dealer.

ChevyTech007,

I couldn't find green and black wire connector on mine. All I could find was a green and WHITE wire with connector. I think this had something to do with the airbag because it was wrapped with yellow tape and I think the yellow tape means air bag connections. I tried to unplug it under the steering wheel but it wouldn't come unplugged, but I traced it down under the dash and unplugged it there and it didn't fix the problem, it just lit up the air bag light on my dash lights. Did I get the wrong wire or is there another wire that you were referring to?

Thanks,

Stingray
