Wattage on Highs/Lows

Hey guys...I posted a while back about purchasing a set of Halo (Xenon Plasma....ect) Bulbs to replace my stock high/lows

Well they came in today and i installed them and they look great...(kinda like a BMW white light)...but anyways the big concern i have is in the Wattage

On the Stock Bulbs it has 55W and 65W....Both of the new Halo bulbs have 100W printed on the back of the bulbs...WILL THIS DAMAGE ANYTHING? It is almost double the wattage...please advise...i do not want to have spend $40 on cool looking new bulbs and have them make me replace all kindsa stuff that could cost $100's

the wattage on the bulb is whatever your harness gives them, i don't care if my bulb says 200W if my harness supplies 55 than the bulb gets 55W

Someone correct me if i am wrong

The bulb will draw more amps, the higher the wattage. That becomes a problem for a stock harness when used with overwattage bulbs. Keep on eye on things and make sure you don't melt anything or blow fuses.

Ok...So my basic understanding of what you just said is that if the bulb says 100W on it that means that it can take up to 100W but if it is only given 55 then it will only use 55?

I've seen issues where the following occurs:

1. The bulb 'melts'

2. The wire harness melts

3. The housing melts

All because of higher temperatures from the new bulb. You're better off running true Xenon HIDs. That only draws 35watts.

You'll already get a sense of how hot the housings get when running OEM bulbs. Just imagine doubling the power.
