Best deal?

I was wondering what I should pay for a 2006 1500 short bed, reg cab with just the 4.8 and auto. I'm not looking for anything fancy like power everything. Heck, I don't even mind vinyl flooring. Just your basic pickup. Anybody have any good tips? I live near Memphis if that helps. Thank you! Ed :chevy:

I will tell U what I would not pay, over the 20-22K range.(for new) I just looked at about 50 different chevy trucks. The best deal I saw was a 05 model just like U are looking for. Power everything, vinyl mats cloth bench, upgraded cd player, vent visors and bedliner. 5400 miles on the odo. I can not express to U how spotless this truck was. 15900. The only thing was the 4.3. I wanted a 4.8 at least. It was sold 1/2 hr before I got to the stealership.

I am partial to low mileage used vehicles, I let the first person pay for all of the depreciation.

I got into my 03,4.8 short box for much less than the previous deal with 20,400. on the ODO. Deals are out there if U look.

About 2 weeks ago, I paid $12,990 for a 2006 regular cab, long bed. That has the 4.3 and a 5 speed manual. That was the price from a "no haggle" dealer.

The 4.8 adds something like $800 to the invoice price, and the automatic adds about another $1,000. Almost all of the basic "work truck" models that you will find will be in white, unless you special order one.

Check Edmunds.com for invoice prices, dealer incentives, and what people in your area are paying for the truck you want. Also, check the dealers within a few hundred miles of where you're at, and be prepared to drive a few hundred miles if someone has a really good deal.

Good luck finding your truck :chevy:

Shop around, be smart, & be patient. Negotiate the dealer down to invoice as close as you get them, then take any factory incentives that are out there on top of that. You can get the invoice pricing online for the base model of the truck and all options. Print that out take it to the dealer, offer the invoice price then ask for factory incentives. Believe me make the best deal you can, the truck you will haggle with is not the last one on the lot, not the last one GM will make.

If you are looking for a 4X4, there is a new 2006 work truck on eBay right now. It is a regular cab, short bed, 4.3 V6, 5 speed, CD player, cruise, for $ 17,100. That is an excellent price for a new 4X4 full size pickup.
