HD's with 16 x10's

Hey all,

I just got offered a great deal on some Boyd Coddington rims. They are wider than I would like but am considering them anyways, when else do I have the chance of getting 4 new rims for 600 bucks. Help me out here and show me your pics. Thanks all

Will they fit? Last year I tried to order some 16x8 wheels for my 05 2500HD and was told that aftermarket 16" wheels would not fit because GM used bigger brake calipers than previous years and that I would have to go to a 17" wheel. This was from 4 wheel parts and I have not tried any aftermarket wheels yet to see if a 16" wheel will fit

Seeing that the factory rims are 16's I can't imagine why a 16" wheel wouldn't fit. I forgot to mention that these are 16.5's. I am thinking that the 1/2 ton's came with 17's and am wondering if the sales person may have been confused because I can't see how gm's 16 is bigger than anyone elses 16" wheel.

I have heard 16x10s wont fit on HD's unless they're lifted....just something to think about. There will probably be 15 people say I am retarded and they will fit not.

You didn't mention the backspacing of the wheels or the tire size you were looking at.

I wish I knew the backspacing on the rims but I don't. I was looking at putting 33x 12.5's on there. My buddy is putting his on sometime this week and I will see how it looks and drives. He has the exact setup mind does only hes has a duramax. If they don't fit I will probably just go the boring way of putting 285's on the stockies.

Boring is cheaper. Once you go to an 8" wheel, even with the same backspacing as stock, your front wheels will be more likely to rub on the front spoiler and left front inner fender because your track is going to be wider. Going to a 10" wheel makes your track 2" wider yet (1" per side), really aggravating the clearance issues at the front wheels.

I know this is off topic here but may be useful...

I tried to put a 16" wheel from an OBS 4x4 1500 onto a NBS 1500 4x4 and it wouldnt fit, it hit the brakes on the rear. I know the lug pattern is the same because NBS wheels fit on my OBS, but wouldnt work both ways.

The backspacing on the rims is 4.5" Will that be enough. I have the torsion bars cranked and with my 245's on I am measuring 39.5"s from the level cement to the middle of my flare. I figured the tires will give me about an 1 1/2 more clearance. Am i on the mark here?

This is true,but only on the '05-up Non-Hybrid 1500's,Starting in '05 GM made 17" wheels standard on the 1500's because of the bigger front calipers,Hybrid trucks continue to use 16" wheels because they do not use the bigger calipers (They still use four-wheel discs where as the other 1500's have a disc/drum setup)

The 2500/3500's still use 16" wheels.

Yep,I tried this too on the front and learned the hard way they don't work!
