Power windows quit working

Recommended Posts

I was rolling up the windows and turned the key off when they were almost up. My friend open the door too quick and the window stopped about an inch from the top. Now passenger front and rear window do not rool up or down. While the driver front and rear work fine. Any suggestions?

Give your friend a kick in the ass for being an idiot.

Check the fuses for the windows in the fusebox. It might've had a short.

Happened to my 02 Yukon XL just yesterday. Wife thought the fuse had blown but when she went back about an hour later and tried it, it started to work although very sluggishly (probably thermal overload on motor).

I came home from work and tried it and it completely stopped working. I tore the door panel off and found that the lifter cable had frayed going into the window motor and is now wrapped around the spool. I'm sure thats going to cost. Warranty expired 6mo ago.

Fixed it today. There is a $8 relay on the passenger side of the dash that runs the pass. side front and rear windows. Good thing it didn't rain for a few days.
