engine swaps

i got a 02 chevy 4x4 with a 4.8 and i just put on a 6 inch lift and 38 inch boggers i'm looking to do a engine swap for more power i want to know what i'd have to do to swap to a 6liter or even the 8.1 liter

5.3 would be the easiest but a 6L is doable with a new tranny and rearend and entire PCM, basicall a huge undertaking

do a 5.3 and supercharge it

First thing I would do if you havn't yet is putting 4.56 gears in.

5.7 yes. 6.0 yes. 8.1 no. Go for TQ and toss in a 6.0. It will run on the 5.3 PCM just fine. Retune is highly recommended. Rear end will be fine but over time the G80 will implode. It sucks that bad. Tranny will need some tending to. Weight of a 4WD, extra rotating mass of the t-case and power of more cubes will put more stress on the already weak 4L60E. That in time will also die with a 6L bolted to it. Its actually an easy swap. Simple plug and play deal. Just takes some time and a set of extra hands.

thanks for the help guys i think i'm going to go with a 6l my 4L60 is built so i think it should hold up good behind it but will all the accessories off my 4.8l work on the 6l? i'm getting my 6l out of my friends rolled 2500 thats a 04 i can get the ecu out of it also if it will work
