I don't think someone can just 'give one up' per say. I know mine was exclusive through my employer and even though you have the certification code/number, they still verify employment, etc. At least that's as far as I understand it.

Go to the RV.net website and go to the discussion forums. Under the Tow Vehicles forum post a question there regarding the GMID certificate. There are a couple of people on that forum that can hand out the GMID certificates. Or PM or forward me your contact information and I can pass it on.

And yes, the GMID certificates can be shared. Employees and retirees get like two certificates a month they can share. The supplier certificates are not transferable that I know of.

One other thing to be aware of is that you have to buy a vehicle that was invoiced to the dealer directly. If a dealer does a trade and the vehicle you are looking at was not invoiced to them you are not going to be able to use your GMID. Plus you should be able to get any dealer to sell you a truck at Invoice, Suplier is only 100-200 bucks less. When I bought my truck I got them to go 500 under Invoice. NO

Another note the dealer does not have to accept the GMID certificate towards the purchase of the vehicle.

No kidding...That's awesome.

As for the topic at hand...I had a heck of a time getting them to take the GM Supplier (Chevy in every driveway, whatever) certificate for my truck. One dealership flat refused to even talk about it.

Which is why I have a blue one instead of a silver one.

From GM...

We've just announced GM Supplier Discount Plus — the program that allows all current eligible GM supplier employees to share their GM Supplier Discount with two other people through May 31, 2006.

You have a limited time to share the savings, so get the word out to friends and family soon. Open the attached flyer for details on how to share your discount.

For more information, visit gmsupplierdiscount.com or call 1.800.960.3375.

I'll share mine. PM me if you want it. As stated in the website, it requires your name, last 4 digits of your SS number, and your date of birth.
