hey guys i need a little help. i will be moving to alaska soon and need some tips on keeping the truck in good shape on the road, and maintaining it in alaska. do i need to change out any of the hoses, lines, gaskets? what about any bolt-ons or products? one other thing, other than keeping my foot out of it is their any way to save on gas? i know that with a 454 your asking for it, but i thought i would ask anyway.

i've already set it up with a Holley 4165, its at 750 CFM. i get 14.5mi./gallon if i'm lucky. looking for 16-17. any tricks?

Suggest changing ALL fluids to synthetic. Install block and oil pan heaters. Make sure your battery and all cables are in tip top shape. Keep a bottle of spray deicer inside your cab.

Get ready for some looks from folks as you don't see alot of vehicles that old driving around in the winter time up here. The climate can be a little tough on older vehicles. Are you going to Anchorage, Fairbanks or ???

Things you'll need - block heater, very good battery, synthetic oil, hopefully your heater works well, check to ensure you've got good antifreeze that is good to -40, and get ready to watch it rust.
