Transfer Case hole problems

There is a well-known issue over on diesel place with the New Process transfer case in 4x4 pickups where a retaining clip breaks loose from the houseing of the case and lets the pump get too close to the side of the rear housing of the unit, causing a hole to wear though. Fulid leaks out, pollutants get in, and the transfer case blows not to log after the hole first emerges.

Here is the link (with pictures of this problem):

I know this is a problem with the regular transfer case on all gm pickups, HD and non-HD alike. I'm not sure if the Auto-trak transfer case has this same problem.

A friend of mine just had this experiance with his pickup (2001 Dmax), and I'm wondering if anyone here has a similar story...

I have been wondering if the manual shift transfer cases in the 05 k-1500's are having this problem, anyone know? It's the NP-2 on the option code. Most of what I have been reading has been 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

Well, my friend told me that he read a story on the internet about a guy with a transfer case that is leaking blue fulid, and I think the Autotrac has blue fluid in it, so I guess I'm inline to have the problem happen too.

I would hope New Process would take steps to prevent the problem from happening in the newer models, I would hope...But I doubt.
