Noisy suspension shackle

Recommended Posts

Posted

My D/S rear susp. shackle creaks annoyingly under any sort of travel, e.g. going over a speed hump or bouncing on the tailgate. Only does it on the one side. Been doing it for a while, sharp grade change in the girlfriend's driveway always sets it off, but today just sitting down on the tailgate made it creak, time to get rid of it!

I figure I got some junk in the d**n thing driving on a dirt road or something, had a creaking problem with the cab mounts that cleaning fixed.

Anyway, ya'll think a can of silicone spray into the bushings is worth a shot? Any recommendations brandwise? All I've got around here is bike lube. Or do I have to bite the bullet and knock the shackle off and clean it out? What kind of torque is on the shackle bolts? Can it be done with hand tools or do I have to hunt down an impact?

Thanks guys.
