OBD Issues

I have an 04 Silverado CC with the 5.3 L engine. Went to Jiffy Lube for a vehicle inspection which included an emissions test. They tell me that I failed the test because they were unable to perform the emissions test due to not being able to talk to my OBD computer. They said that this usually happens when a fuse to the computer is blown. Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting this solved? Thanks in advance for any help.

Check your cig lighter fuse in the underhood fuse box. I'll bet its blown. It is what powers up the DLC. If you use a lot of components that you plug into your lighter sockets, you might want to up the fuse amp a bit. If not replace your lighter elements.

Checked out the cig. lighter fuse in the parking lot at work and sure enough, it was blown. Have to work until 2:00 today but will try and stop for fuses on the way home. Don't know what made that one go (?) but hope replacing it will be enough. Thanks for the info.

I suggest NOT upping the amperage on the fuse. Your asking for trouble doing that. Have you ever seen a vehicle burn? They burn very, very fast and complete.

Replaced the cig. lighter fuse with a 15 amp fuse (same as the blown one). Took it in for the inspection and passed with flying colors. All I can think of is that I must have blown it with a portable air compressor that plugs into the cig. lighter jack. Was filling bike and lawn mower tires that softened up after the winter. All seems well again.
