compressor

1994 Silverado. When the air conditioning is running the compressor turns on and off. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks

That's normal. The compressor clutch is designed to cycle on and off to keep the line pressures and temperatures correct. If the compressor clutch stayed engaged the whole system would freeze over. This also gives time for heat to be removed from the freon in the condenser ahead of the radiator.

By the way, if the cycling of the compressor is especially noisy, bothersome or effects the engine performance try checking the freon (I know R134) charge to make sure it's fully charged.
