Z71 Skid Plates

After a very fun day with a little offroading, I managed to scrape up the front two skids on my brand new Z71. I know its nitpicky, but all I can think about when I drive the truck is how I managed to already scrape it up, im a bit impulsive about things at times. Well I don't mind the steel second one being scraped up a bit, but the first composite plastic one has gotta go. How much would you guess it would cost for the dealership to replace that? Thanks guys, thinking im going to get my 1k mile oil change done tomorrow and since the oil costs through the dealership were so cheap I decided to pay for it to be done there.

Personally, I wouldn't pay the stealer anything to replace it. They absolutely rape you on something like that. I bought brand new skid plates and shocks for my truck for $110.00. They were new conversion take-offs. It's nothing to change the skid plates. Why don't you just touch up the one's you scraped?

After washing the undercarriage off all of the salts or whatever it is left from the rocks, I don't care if it's scraped at all, its the plastic first one that I may change. I doubt it though after thinking about it, its still in okay condition just scraped up a bit, I thought I would have messed it up much worse with that belly dragging on the ground for a couple of ft. The things that took the brunt of the drag were the stainless steps actually. They are good for more than just looks I guess. Are they welded to the frame and can you replace them if I decide to lift the truck enough where the dents in them would be evident?

It is a skid plate, It is OK to skid on the skid plate. You will get over it.

By the way if you are as nitpicky and impulsive as you claim why risk taking your new $35K+ Z71 off road?

Relax nobody can see the skid plates and if they do tell them that you actually use your off road package.........

99% do not use there Z71 off road package. If they were smart they would simply buy the Z71 decals and save the $$$

The best thing to do with skidplates is to spray black rubberized undercoating on them and respray if you scrape the coating off. The fron Z71 skidplate in made of aluminum, the transfer case skdplate is steel.

The step bars are bolted to the truck using the body mount bolts, three on each side for a crew cab.
