Avalanche owners

Hey guys,

I have found a really nice Avalanche that I am going to go look at tomorrow. It is a 2003 Z66 fully loaded. The asking price is $19,000. I called and gave them my information and they said it would be really close for me to trade my '05 regular cab straight up for this. The guy said it is fully loaded with digital climate control, onstar, xm, 6 disc, bose, and heated seats. Now, the 2wd part doesn't bother me because here in the deep south, we don't need a 4wd that much at all. The only part that bothers me is that it has 50,000 miles on it. My truck is fixin' roll over on 11,000. But, I have booked my truck and the Avalanche and they are basically the same book price. Now, I know some of you may say, "go buy a new one". I am not, repeat not, going into debt to make a trade. End of story. I just need some advice on this, from you GM guys.

It's really up to you. You are right about the 4WD, but I have it since it can get nasty on deer trails after it rains. They'll probably get about the same mileage, so you're looking at the only difference being space. Do you need/want the extra space and comforts? If yes, then buy the truck. The only thing that I don't like is the 50,000 mile part. This is low mileage compared to how long the truck should last however you are giving up the 24,000 miles of warranty left on your Z71. Is this a Chevy dealer or a "side of the road" dealer? You might be able to get a GM warranty if it is a Chevy dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you decide.

No, it is a Chevrolet dealership. I don't hunt or anything, so the trails and stuff are out of the question.

Why would you trade an '05 for an '03 with quadruple the miles

 

I went the opposite way dumped my '03 AV that was falling apart at 83k for a new loaded '06 Silverado Z71 Cew Cab
